1973 Jensen Healey Restoration - Part 11

Part 11- Headlight & Wingnut Stuff
By Greg Fletcher

Costs For The Last Month: $178

Bought more parts, mostly suspension bushings & such. I’ve finally installed the headlights. This was a bit of a problem as I was missing all the parts. I found a complete set on ebay for $14 and purchased those. This was, in fact, not the great deal it sounds as the assemblies where in horrible shape. Fortunately, I did suddenly find the paper bag with the original parts (most of them anyway). I was missing the retaining springs but the ebay items did provide me with all info I needed to reassemble correctly (which was not as simple as I had supposed). I purchased a pair of Lucas halogen headlights, which I’'m very happy with- they have a bit of the original round look that more modern ones don’'t. I was missing the wing nuts that hold on the headlight cowls and in my frustration I bought some course thread brass wing nuts and used a tap to get fine threads (the hardware store didn’t stock fine-thread 1/4” wing nuts!). Moving into engine compartment next month.
